Webinar: Increasing Reading Achievement: Using System Measures to Spur Improvement

The Increasing Reading Achievement: Using System Measures to Spur Improvement webinar was held on October 3, 2024. This was the second in a webinar series to promote systems change in support of students with disabilities. RTI experts Sophia Farmer, Elisabeth Hensley, and Robin Wisniewski, in conversation with Tyler Portis, Senior Research Analyst, Noble Public Schools, Sivan Tuchman, Principal and Consultant at Datability Education, and Genevieve Thomas, MA, NCSP, Founder, Spark Educational Consulting explored how to build measurement systems and data practices that can support increased reading literacy for students with disabilities.

They also shared insights gained from a 3-year pilot program, funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and led by RTI International in collaboration with SRI International and NIRN, to improve systems, learning experiences, and outcomes for Black and Latinx students with disabilities in 10 charter management organizations across the U.S.

Learning Objectives for the webinar included:

  • Understand how to build a system of measures to inform reading improvement for students with disabilities
  • Identify key actions leaders can take to support effective implementation of a system of measures
  • Share resources to support better measurement of reading improvement across the system

Webinar: Supporting Principals as Inclusive Leaders in Systems Change

The Supporting Principals as Inclusive Leaders in System Change webinar was held on June 20, 2024. This virtual webinar lead by educators and researchers featured the following:

  • Introduction to systems change and the science of school improvement
  • Discussion of the most promising strategies for inciting systems change

Presenters shared insights gained from a 3-year pilot program, funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and led by RTI International in collaboration with SRI International and NIRN, to improve systems, learning experiences, and outcomes for Black and Latinx students with disabilities in 10 charter management organizations across the U.S.
